This study aimed to evaluate the national level wrestlers’ anaerobic capacity through the preparation and qualification periods for Rio 2016 summer Olympic Games. For this manner, 10 national level freestyle wrestlers’(age 22,10 ± 3,21; weight 64,75 ±6,34; height 164,31 ± 4,75) anaerobic outputs measured 3 times in three month intervals with Bosco repeated jump test. Peak Jump(cm), Flight time, average power, average power/weight, first 15sec average jump height, last 15sec average jump height, fatigue index scores analyzed with repeated measures Anova. Mean power/weight output of the wrestlers increased from 20,42 W/kg to 21,28 W/kg(4,21 %) and fatigue index is decreased from 1,185 to 1,142 (3,62 %). However, this increase was not statistically significant (p<0,05). In six months of qualification and preparation period wrestlers’ anaerobic capacity did not changed and it is thought to have been caused by some reasons such as having already reached a certain anaerobic peak level or athletes’ competition level and frequency which might made it difficult for them to have a proper periodization during the year

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of 10-weeks bosu ball exercises on static balance in 12-14 years tennis players. Children playing tennis actively in Ankara tennis club participated in the sample of the study. In accordance with the training plan, it consists of 12-14 years old subjects who train over 7 hours (4-5 units) weekly. The subjects participating in the study were divided into 2 groups. In the first group, 8 tennis player children did bosu ball exercises and (4-5 units) tennis training, in the second group 8 tennis players (4-5 units) did tennis training. The study continued for a total of 10 weeks, at least 7 hours a week. Height, body weight, BMI and static balance measurements were taken from the subjects participating in the study before and after the exercise period. The data obtained were evaluated in the SPSS 22 package program. The age, height, body weight and BMI values of the experimental group participating in the study were 17.84 ± 2.33 kg / height2 40.75 ± 11.57 kg and 1.49 ± 0.15 m, 13.62 ± 0.51 years respectively. The control group was determined as 18.34 ± 4.41 kg / height2 and 42.75 ± 12.92 kg, 1.52 ± 0.16 m, 13.21 ± 0.45 years respectively. There was no difference in the oscillation standard deviation between the experimental and control groups. However, a significant difference was found at the level of p <0.05 in the swing velocity of the swinging speed to the left and right, the standard deviation of the swing to the left, the static balance score, the swing speed back and forth, the swing speed to the right and left, and the static balance score. A significant difference was found at the level of p <0.05 in all in-group scores of the experimental group. No significant difference was found in the in-group comparisons of the control group. Based on these results, it can be said that regular bosuball exercises will provide benefits in terms of health and performance if they are applied three times a week, 60 minutes in each training unit for 10 weeks or more, according to the continuity principle

    Get PDF
This review article aims to synthesize all the observational studies that examined the effects of video gaming on nutritional behaviors. In addition, it is aimed to draw the attention of field academicians and researchers to the issue related to video gaming and to shed light on future observational studies in the field of sports sciences. All peer-reviewed observational studies on the nutritional behaviors of video gamers have been systematically examined and collected. Playing video games or playing them for a long time can have significant consequences on the health of those who play. While interest in video games or online digital games is increasing rapidly, studies focusing on understanding the health risks and benefits associated with them are long overdue. There is a need to develop and evaluate preventive interventions that address the harms video games can cause. Similarly, there are gaps in the evidence on ways to encourage safe and healthy digital gaming among the ever-growing video gamer population. In order to develop evidence-based guidelines and intervention strategies that include nutritional behaviors, these gaps need to be filled with scientific research. Article visualizations

In this study, the changes in the body fat percentage (BFP) of 38 athletes prepared for Kyrgyzstan National Team qualification competitions before 2016 Summer Olympic Games have been examined within the scope of the Project (BAP) during one season training period. The study has been applied out on 35 male and 3 female national athletes including 9 male Greco-Roman style wrestlers (24±4.5 years), 10 male freestyle wrestlers (22.10±3.21 years), 8 male judokas (23.6±1.89 years), 8 male athletes (29±2.87 years) and 3 female athletes (21.67±2.08 years). The body fat ratios (BFRs) of the participating athletes have been measured totally 3 times, immediately before the 6 month training period, 3 months later and 6 months after the period. In order to determine body fat percentage, skinfold thicknesses have been measured with HOLTAIN brand skinfold caliper and the body fat percentages have been determined according to the LANGE formula. The statistical evaluation of the findings has been carried out by SPSS 21.0 computer package program and the arithmetic mean and standard deviation of all parameters have been calculated. Differences in (P0.05). However, each measurement has been determined numerically lower than the previous one. The lowest average of women athletes has been observed in the second measures. Conclusion; Although each measure in body fat percentages of wrestlers and judokas has not been found statistically significant with respect to the previous measurement, the low reflectance has been interpreted as a conscious body weight loss for adjusting the weight for the athletes who were competitors as they approached the competition period

Posaconazole prophylaxis in patients with acute myeloid leukemia: A real life experience from a prospective multicenter observational study

Vaginal candidiasis is a common disorder in women of childbearing age, caused primarily by the dimorphic fungus Candida albicans. Since C. albicans is a normal commensal of the vaginal mucosa, a long-standing question is how the fungus switches from being a harmless commensal to a virulent pathogen. Work with human subjects and in mouse disease models suggests that host inflammatory processes drive the onset of symptomatic infection. Fungal cell wall molecules can induce inflammation through activation of epithelial and immune receptors that trigger pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, but pathogenic fungi can evade recognition by masking these molecules. Knowledge about which cell wall epitopes are available for immune recognition during human infection could implicate specific ligands and receptors in the symptoms of vaginal candidiasis. To address this important gap, we directly probed the surface of fungi present in fresh vaginal samples obtained both from women with symptomatic Candida vaginitis and from women that are colonized but asymptomatic. We find that the pro-inflammatory cell wall polysaccharide β-glucan is largely masked from immune recognition, especially on yeast. It is only exposed on a small percentage of hyphal cells, where it tends to co-localize with enhanced levels of chitin. Enhanced β-glucan availability is only found in symptomatic patients with strong neutrophil infiltration, implicating neutrophils as a possible driver of these cell wall changes. This is especially interesting because neutrophils were recently shown to be necessary and sufficient to provoke enhanced β-glucan exposure in C. albicans, accompanied by elevated immune responses. Taken together, our data suggest that the architecture of C. albicans cell wall can be altered by environmental stress during vaginal candidiasis.
</div
